In the face of a growing need for wildlife assistance, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is launching its annual fundraising campaign, aptly named “Wild Ride.” Recognised as Tasmania’s sole statewide, 24-hour rescue service and wildlife hospital provider, Bonorong plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the region’s diverse fauna. With a projected surge in calls for assistance expected to surpass 17,000 this year, the sanctuary’s annual costs for conservation-based and wildlife services, exceeding $1.7 million, underscore the financial challenges in maintaining this critical work.
The Wild Ride concept is simple: participants choose their own Wild Ride and register on the website as individuals or as a team, they then attract sponsors to raise funds for Bonorong’s essential work. Wild Rides are ranging from covering extensive kilometres on a bike to commuting on a child’s bike to navigating the workplace on a pogo stick for a day, the variety is immense! We wanted something that everyone could be involved in, regardless of age, physical capabilities, or time constraints. We aimed for safe and a fun experience that provides an opportunity for our loyal supporters to engage and champion the work we do.
Wild Ride unfolds throughout March 2024, allowing participants to plan their Wild Ride for a day or the entire month. Families, businesses, and individuals alike are encouraged to join in, support wildlife conservation, and revel in a bit of fun along the way.
